Government of Kerala could foresee the potential in this sector as early as in 1990 and had successfully built and marketed TechnoPark (in the southern region) and InfoPark (in the Central region) and has now launched CyberPark for the IT and Infrastructure development of the northern region of the State. Its first project is the development of Cyberpark in Kozhikode and as its spokes Kannur and Kazargode IT parks are on the pipe line. The IT Parks that have been setup at Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi have caused a huge growth in the local economy, by becoming a catalyst for infrastructure and social development, and providing employment for thousands in and around the region.

Accommodating a number of reputed educational institutions including the Indian Institute of Management, National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode has been in the radar of the IT/ITES investors for a number of years now. Further the lower cost of Infrastructure, closeness to major IT destinations like Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore puts Malabar as the next strategic location for any kind of IT/ITES developments.

While tapping into the large pool of locally available skilled resources and reputed educational institutions, the purpose of Cyberpark is to provide a friendly, cost effective and top of the line infrastructure to the IT/ITES investors, there by acting as a catalyst for the social and infrastructure development of the region with a vision to provide unlimited employment opportunities and a substantial contribution to economical development of the state especially the Malabar Region.
